Voice in my head, will soon be fed By the vultures, that circle round the dead In a crooked little town, they werelost and never found Run away before you drown, or the streets will beat you down Fallen leaves on the ground Staring at sidewalks, hiding my track marks I left my best friends, or did they just leave me?
Darn it. Stubling through the trees was a young male wolf, his head low and ears pinned back against his skull. His eyes half closed and jowls parted, poink tingue lolling frrely from benith his jaws, he showed no sign of livening up. In fact, he looked near dead, walking in zig zag patterns, his vision blurred and his face blank and expressionless.
But I am alive. A sigh emitted his mouth, softly brushing against his tongue. He was lost and confused. He had no idea that he was a Dreamer, or that the disease was already consuming him, dragging him into a pit of despair. He was living half reality, half dream and was fighting for his sanity. But it was taking all the effort he had to stay awake. To keep the dream from consuming him completely.
Save me. He needed help. Collapsing into a heap, Zero allowed himself to relax and wait. He was hoping it would allow him to recover. But it was useless. He was merely allowing himself to be taken in my the illusion was was infecting his system. His eyes closed, vision blurred and faded as he drifted into sleep. When he awoke, would he still he himself,or would the dream have fully taken over?
A strange scent rose into the air, wolf mingled with something more… unsettling. These lands were rank with it. The small fea padded silently over the terrain, the tree’s fallen colors swirling about her. Auds perked as a near inaudible sigh whispered from further beyond. Pace quickened, unease holding a tight grasp upon Rive. She flinched as a thud resounded through the space. Seconds later, she found it’s source. Before her was another wolf, heaped upon the ground, who didn’t seem to notice her approaching. Was he dead? That stench she met earlier lingered about him quite awfully. Frozen in place, Rive watched for a moment, a sense of relief washed over her as the other wolf’s chest rose and fell with the steady certainty of life. Catching her breath in her throat, the inexperienced wolf reached her muzzle out. At the moment of contact, she recoiled, sensing something was not right. Fear took hold of her once more, pushing her away several paces, still facing the down wolf. Her silver-green orbs traced the contors of the wolf, weary of any stirrings. Weary apprehension and curiosity fought for control over her mind.
A strange scent. A foreign scent. His nostrils flared andhis jowls twitched. Someone was close, too closefor comfort. Though usualy aplacid creature, the infected beast turned and snarled, eyes flashing open; wide and yellow, his pupils so small that there seemed only golden within his eyes. Within an instant the creature was upon four legs, his jaws wide and saliva dripping steadily down from the low to the lower reqions of his vice like fangs. His tail curled over his hips, his paws shuffled the earth and his stance was that of a beast. His head lowered and eyes gazed, unblinking, up at the femmora. This was quiet unlike himself, and alothough his mind was telling himself to stop, his body was moving off its own accord. He did not speak a single word. He didnt need too. Instead, he took a step forwards. His body threatening and his ears pressed firmly against his skull. Zero was deeply within the dream, it seemed, though within his body his mind still fought against the disease that would soon take over even that unless he could, somehow, wake up. Screaming no within his skull, his body paid no heed and continued to approched the lone female rebel. His hackled raised and a slight grin etched across his features.
[ Sorry for the lameness. I dont think im too good at playing dreamers *facepalm* ]
She should have ran when she had the chance. Before the young fae could process what was happening, the brute had leaped up, auds laced flat against his skull, ivories gleaming at her. If she could only get running, she might have a chance. Legs tangled among each other, bringing Rive down hard upon the earth. Her eyes found his, seemingly wrought without pupils, she couldn’t pry herself away from that golden stare. Body writhed about as she stood once more, ran once more, fell once more. This time a sickening crack resounded throughout her bod as she met the ground. Searing pain shot up a leg. It didn’t register. Her terrified gaze still hadn’t left his. Broken body pulled itself up in a final effort. The leg gave out and she collapsed upon the terrain. Exposed and venerable. Eyes finally squeezed shut, not wanting to witness her own final moment. Lips whispered uncontrollably, urging her to fight it.
Come on. Come on. Prove to me your not weak. Come on! You’ve made it all this time, don’t fail now. Come On!
She could see the brute within her minds eye, coming at her, jaws agape, sight set upon murder. No. Rive jumped up. Pain didn’t exist. Her eyes flashed open, and fierce determination now stared at the beast. Let’s see what we’re made of.
His smirk grew each and every time she attempted to flee and fell, his jawsbegan to shake slightly as laugher roared up within his chest. The sound rumbled throughout his bodice, echoing through fangs and sending saliva foaming from his jaws towards the ground like a rabis infected creature. His ears percked up to better heard the femme, just as her bones crunched benith her weight. His eyes widened ever more, a gleeful look mirrored behind those orbs. His beody tensing, he thrust his body forwards at a gallop towards the femme, but not before she stood. She she did, he hesitated. Even better. A challenge. Lets see how far this bit.ch can go before she falls! His hackles were like spikes upon his grey crest and his barrel once more began to speed over the terrain. His jaws lashed out, aiming for her skull. He wasnt much bigger even than this femme, yet his power and speed were far greater than normal. The dream was overcoming his body, and despite his usual weakness, it seemed the disease was acting of its own accord and becoming stronger, thus his body did also. Vision sharp and heart pounding in blood lust, he attacked.
Ooc: It doesn’t bother me ^^ I’m not sure if you meant for Zero to strike her yet, so if not just tell me and I can fix it =)
Bic: Fear pushed her into a blind rage as the beast cackled. Adrenaline raced through out her body, reducing any pain to nothing but a slight shadow of a thought in the back of her mind. It’s time to get going. Powerful back legs launched Rive off to the side of the brute in an effort to avoid the attack as best she could. She cried out as his jaws grazed against her shoulder blade, tearing the skin and even reaching down into the muscle. In that moment, she could feel the disease biting at the edges of her wound, she could feel that it was the very thing driving the brutes attack. Cranium shook, as if attempting to rid herself of the venom. Heart pounded as an image of another blood hungry wolf flashed though her mind, herself. No. If she survived this battle, she could refuse the dreams.
Rive could hear the bones grinding in her foreleg as she landed, already she knew it would not hold for long. She turned to face him, and her body braced for the impact of battle.
Is that all you can do?
She was not aiming her words at the wolf, but to the beast that was controlling him. Maybe, just possibly, she could outlast it, wait for the brutes energy to dwindle away. Bod stood strong, gaze was steady and cold, effectively hiding any weakness she had. Inside, deep in the recesses of her mind, it was much different. Hysteric voices cried out in terror and pain, oh! How much easier it would be to just lay down and go peacefully. Sheer will power silenced such thoughts. Just keep moving.
His tongue lavished the taste of iron clad crimson as his jaws grasped her side. Her dodge had not been fast enough to match his speed, it seemed. Yet it had not been where he was aiming. He snarled, irritated that the beast wouldnt stay still like the good little creature she ought to be. He stopped and turned to face her once more, her blood dripping from his fangs. He smirked, eyes focused once more upon her bosom. Is that all you can do? The words angered the dreamer and his tail rose higher. A blood thristy cry rumbled from his jowls and his claws scraped the earth as he once more got ready to launch himself towards her. He knew her body wouldnt be able to moove as swiftly as before in that condition. Laughing, mocking her, he rushed forth once more. Five steps until his fangs could rip her crest, four until she felt his bite, three until he could taste her flesh once again, two until she fell, one more step until he could defeat the dignified, brave femmora. Stop. He froze, just a step away from her. Panting deeply, his pupils dilating until they appeared normal once more, the brujo slowly closed his vice. Shivered slightly, he raised his head and his eyes met hers. "What the hell am I doing." He asked both himself and her. He bit his lip, the dream still trying to invade. Iwont surcome to you, I wont fall asleep. I dont want to kill. I dont like it. I dont want to hurt anyone. Ahh, is that so, boy? Doesnt matter what you want, though. 'Cause one day youll fall back to sleep. One day, you'll kill yet again. Get used to that taste, kid. You'll taste it again soon enough. He licked his lips slowly. Iron. Blood. He spat it out and gagged, his stomache repulsed by the wolf blood within his jaws. Hewouldnt taste it, he wouldnt allow himself to swallow. Taking a step back, he began to back away from the femorra. "What are you doing!" He cried out towards her. "Get the hell away before I do it again!" He stared at her, hopeless. He was okay for now. Yet, some day itwould turn him again, and he doubted next time he could resist. Each time it grew stronger and stronger. Like a time bomb, he was just waiting for the final second of reality to fade away.
[Sorry if I accidently pped or anything. I think I might have by accident. Ill edit if you want.]
Time slowed to an unbearable crawl. Shoulder and forearm cried out in pain as the fea watched her attacker draw closer and closer. Heart beat matched his footfalls, and still she stayed, she had not known what fear was before this. Know she wondered if it would be the last thing she knew. He had halved the gap between them. The beast was laughing once more, his psychotic cackle. Sight locked upon the rushing beast as auds searched for another sound, anything else, that hysteria would follow her into the eternal sleep if it was the last thing she heard. Form tensed with expectation of the final blow. Yet… all that came was the surge of oxygen that had been pushed in front of the charger. No blow intent upon death. The atmosphere hung with a dead weight about them, she watched as pupils dilated and sanity regained control. His voice. She couldn’t move. She couldn’t breath. His voice lashed out at her, get away. Every thought was bent upon running, escape. She couldn’t. The stance of defiance and fear held a stone grip about her. Maw worked in an effort to for some kind of words… nothing came. Crimson oozed from the gash upon her shoulder, staining her onyx and alabaster coat. ”Y- you,” Black haze intruded upon her vision. The forearm screamed in pain. ”Don’t dream” Eyelids hung low, the adrenaline was now passing. ”Don’t” Her vocals were failing. ”no dreams” She attempted to lower her slight form, yet fell most of the way. ”Don’t let them take me!” She cried out, eyes now closing, yet holding the brute’s image within her thoughts. Who was there to take her, to steal her away? Her mind was protecting her, sheltering the fea from the pain that now coursed through her beaten body, hiding her away from the venom that had swum in through her shoulder. Soon enough she would awake, but only when the pain became bearable.
His chest heaved, forcing oxygen through his bodice. His tail had lowered, and was hung limp and unmoving behind his barrel. His eyes were focused on the femmes bodice as the collapsed to te ground, forced down by unbearable agony. Pain he had caused her. He shuddered, feeling more awake than he had for some time yet unwilling to move away from her. He didnt clearly remember getting the disease; all he remembered was a pain through his flank as a huge canine attacked from behind. Was that how it had begun? He was not originaly from the area, and these so called Dreams had only started since that night. He had escaped, his legs long and his body swift, ignoring the pain. Yt the scar was deeply embedded on his left hind leg, and the disease was left coursing through his frame. Had he forced the same fate upon her too? He whined gently, lowering his head to nuzzle her crest. Though he didnt know how to heal her, he began to lick her wound clean as she slept. It was the least he could do. Especialy since the scents in the area told of yet more Dreamers who could easily kill herif there was non to protect her in her sleep. Zero felt protective; it was his fault she was like this afterall, and he needed her to leave as soo as possible if she was going to be safe. It was too late for him, but maybe she had a chance.
Terrible dreams clawed through her slumber, always to fleet to be remembered, yet the feelings of fear and hatred lingered, poisoning her thoughts. No. Go way. You can’t stay here. Eyes flicked upon, the world revealing itself in a chilling half-light. She squeezed them shut. You’re not welcome! Not now. Not ever. A struggle for power waged deep within her mind. Blood! No. Death! No. Murder! No. Leave me be. Never. Leave me be!
She could feel something moving near her, touching her wounds. So far away. Somewhere else. Let me back. Blood! No. Death! No. Murder! NO! The fea leaped back into the realm of the living, shutting away those horrid thoughts. They would not get her. No one must know about them. A life of solitude loomed before her if she slipped towards the dark whisperings.
Rive rapidly became away of herself and her surroundings. Fear seized her as sight landed upon the brute. Her beaten body wouldn’t allow her to flee. What happened to me? A pain gnarring away within her leg reminded her of the fight. Anger heated the fea, until she once more saw his eyes. No longer locked upon her with the intent of death, they were rather a comforting sight. “What did you do?” Quiet voice trembled as she paused, surprising another volley of their attacks. “They won’t leave me be.” Her head pounded, as various pains complained to her. She hit the brute with a searching gaze. Why did you let them do this to me? Though she felt she could not bear his presence another moment, something about him was calming, filling her with a sense of protection. “Please don’t leave me here.” Her words were even quieter than before, barely audible even to wolf ears.
What did he do to her? His emerald orbs locked onto her gaze and he shook his head slowly. "I dont know." He mumbled, ears pricked forwards to better hear what she was whispering. He didnt understand what had happened, and why had had lunged at her back then. All he knew was the illusion the dream created, and the realityhe fought hard to remain within. Zero led down besides her as she pleaded for him not to leave and he nodded, his thick crest leaning over her broken body, licking her wound. "I wont. I promise." Hemurmered. His eyes were wellingup with tears of regret, tears for this poor femmora whom he had taken with him into his mental torture. "Im Zero." Headded. She deserved his name, at least, but he doubted he could have hers in return. He didnt deserve it. He was a monster.

Rive’s slight form trembled as she felt him cleaning her wounds. Pain. It felt so far away, detached, not hers to be burdened with. She listened to him promising not to go, promising not to leave the body she was so far away from. The whispers hissed deep within her mind, spewing their venom. Then she heard the brutes voice once more, his title was Zero. How odd, someone that has just altered her life so greatly to be named Zero, certainly that did not fit, for better or for worse. Silvery green orbs traced her leg, her shock wearing away and the first bits of true pain came to feast upon her. “And I am Rive” her voice was bold, attempting to shift all of her focus from what was happening to her towards the brute. “I am more than certain I would have been pleased to meet you under other circumstances” she drew in a sharp breath, feeling a spark of life come pulsing back through her bod. She could feel the pain still, but she also felt the sheer energy of living. Anything was better than those awful voices. Oh, life. A nervous laugh slipped out from her vocals. “But, as things are, it may have been better had we not met.” The image of first finding Zero flashed before her eyes, motionless, living death. Orbs flashed to the brute, perhaps, in a way, she saved him. “Did they – those voices –” she paused, realizing that they were not voices at all, but a certain knowledge, a drive, a need routed deep within. “Back there, just then, did they get you?”

Zero led down, harsks hearing her words and agreeing with her. Indeed, many would have been better off if they had not set eyes upon the Dreamer who's name even he himself had forgotten. The disease had attacked his body and in an attempt to save himself, he had willingly thrown away the faces and names of those he loved. He remembered little of his own past. Zero. He had chosen such a calling - no, he had been given such a title by those d**ned voices - for a reason. He was amere shadow, hurting others then moving onwards, reaching out for the next soul. Meaningless in existant. He meant nothing to all other beings. He was probably better off dead, yet he feared the unknown like all living creatures. Death was a foreign place that Zero did not want to adventure. Her question brought him back and he nodded quietly. "I didnt hear them as you might have done, but I do hear others. Tauting me, hurting me..." He turned away, eyes filled with pain as he remembered those hurtful words the dream implated into his mind.
